Objective

Enable customers to complete signing ceremonies within a Connect call by integrating DocuSign™ with Coconut Connect.

NOTE:
Coconut Connect is an add-on feature. Please connect with your Customer Success Manager to get started.

DocuSign Requirements

In order to use Coconut’s integration with DocuSign, In-Session Signing is required to be enabled on the DocuSign account. This setting is currently only editable by DocuSign staff. Please confirm with your DocuSign Account Manager or DocuSign Support that In-Session Signing is enabled for your account. If it is not enabled, please request that DocuSign sets the In-Session Signing to "enabled" in the Admin Console and in Account Plan Editor.

If this setting is not enabled, Connect may receive errors like this from your DocuSign account when singing is attempted:

errorCode: ACCOUNT_LACKS_PERMISSIONS

message: This Account lacks sufficient permissions. In-Session permission required when specifying a captive recipient.

Steps

  1. From the navigation menu, click Settings

  2. From Integrations & API, click E-signatures

  3. From E-signature Platforms>DocuSign, click Connect

  4. A prompt displays; click Continue to DocuSign to continue the setup process

  5. Login to DocuSign using your organization’s account credentials

  6. A notification outlining what permissions are required to successfully integrate displays; accept to proceed with the integration

The integration is connected. During a Connect call, staff members can access the integration by clicking Documents and, if multiple e-signature integrations exist, selecting DocuSign.

Once connected, Connect users can access the integration during a call by clicking Documents and selecting DocuSign

Hot Tips!

Some items to note for your organization’s DocuSign + Coconut Connect users:

  • Coconut Connect meetings must be associated with either an appointment or a walk-in to leverage e-signature workflows during a Connect call

  • Only DocuSign envelopes that are both sent and unsigned are accessible from Coconut Connect

  • Only DocuSign envelopes that are accessible in DocuSign by the logged-in user will display in Coconut Connect for that user

  • A signer in DocuSign and participant in Coconut Connect are matched by email address; if no match is found, the Coconut Connect call organizer is asked to select the correct Connect participant to match the DocuSign signer

  • To support an embedded signing experience, a DocuSign envelope is locked once the signing session begins in the Connect call, as a result, the signer can only access the envelope from Connect during this time

  • Once the signing session is complete, the envelope is released and parties can access it outside of Coconut Connect

    • This process triggers email notifications from DocuSign to the signer

A note on access and visibility

Admin users can integrate DocuSign as an e-signature provider within Coconut Connect by accessing Settings.
