Objective

Provide staff with a unified, seamless, and secure experience to access core Coconut tools—like queue management and scheduling—directly from the main Salesforce user interface. This feature is designed to simplify workflows and boost employee efficiency by minimizing application switching.

What is the Coconut Workspace Tab in Salesforce?

The Coconut Workspace Tab in Salesforce feature embeds the full Coconut application directly within the Salesforce user interface (UI) as a persistent navigation tab. This allows designated users—such as Branch Staff Members—to access their Coconut tools (like queue management and scheduling) without ever leaving their primary Salesforce environment.

The primary goal of this feature is to enable staff to quickly access queue management tools while seamlessly switching between Salesforce customer data and the Coconut workspace.

Use Cases

This feature provides significant value to Financial Institutions by simplifying the user experience and improving staff efficiency across your organization.

  • Quick Access and Improved Workflow

    • Staff can quickly find and open the Coconut workspace from the main Salesforce navigation bar, eliminating the need to switch applications or manage separate browser tabs

  • Seamless & Secure Authentication

    • Employees are automatically logged into Coconut via Single Sign-On (SSO) using their active Salesforce session credentials, removing the burden of managing an additional set of login details

  • Context-Aware Workspace

    • The embedded view can be configured to load the user's default Coconut homepage, potentially filtered for their assigned branch, immediately presenting them with relevant information

Configuration/Settings

Enabling the Feature Flag

This tab currently requires a specific feature flag to be enabled in your Coconut instance to activate the Salesforce layout enhancements.

  • Action for Admin: Contact your Customer Success team to ensure the Salesforce layout enhancements feature flag is enabled for your organization.

Tab Visibility and Access

The visibility of the Coconut Workspace tab can be assigned and restricted using standard Salesforce Profiles and/or Permission Sets.

  • Standard and Admin Profiles

    • For users with Standard and Admin Salesforce profiles, a Coconut Workspace tab is added to their default visibilities during the layout sync

  • Individual Users

    • Users other than those with Standard or Admin profiles will need to add the tab to their navigation bar manually

  • Admin Configuration

    • A Salesforce Administrator must be able to control the visibility and placement of the Coconut Workspace tab using the standard App Manager setup

NOTE:

This feature does not automatically opt users into the tab showing; most users must add the tab to their navigation manually.

Authentication

This feature requires your system to be configured for Single Sign-On (SSO). The user should be authenticated into Coconut via SSO using their active Salesforce session credentials.

Behaviour and Navigation

The Coconut Workspace is loaded within the Salesforce UI frame. The core experience is designed to be seamless, with a few key modifications to optimize the embedded view.

Tab Loading

  • Loading: Clicking on the Coconut Workspace tab successfully loads the Coconut application

  • Automatic Login: The user is automatically logged in and can navigate Coconut as if they had logged in outside of Salesforce

  • Landing Page: The landing page within the embedded tab will be the same as if the user logged in to Coconut directly

Navigation and UI Tweaks

The main modifications to the Coconut UI within the embedded experience include:

  • Collapsed Navigation: The Coconut side navigation panel is collapsed by default to maximize screen real estate

    • A clearly visible icon will be present to allow the user to expand the navigation panel from its collapsed state

    • The main content area automatically expands to fill the available screen space when the navigation panel is collapsed

  • Data Preservation: When navigating away from and then back to the tab, the state should be preserved or refreshed according to standard Salesforce Lightning behaviour

Troubleshooting

Use this table to address common issues experienced by employees when accessing the Coconut Workspace tab.

Scenario

Check / Action for Support (CX/CSM)

User can't see the tab

1. Confirm they have a Standard or Admin Salesforce profile. If not, confirm their Salesforce Admin has explicitly assigned the tab's visibility via Profiles or Permission Sets

2. Confirm the Salesforce Admin has enabled the Salesforce layout enhancements feature flag

User sees the tab but is prompted to log in

Check the Single Sign-On (SSO) configuration between Salesforce and Coconut. Ensure the user is correctly configured in both systems for SSO

Tab loads but UI is distorted/Scrollbars appear

This indicates a Usability issue. Check if the embedded Coconut application is fully functional and responsive within the Salesforce iframe. Escalate to Engineering if there are nested scrollbars or UI elements are not accessible
